it's because humans are arrogant, no insult to anyone
but if a person goes in thinking 'i'm not going to smile, i'm going to win!' then they force a sort of 'suedo anger' on themselves, which prevents them from laughing, even if they would normally find it humorous, it's human instinct to win, win win.
if you go in watching a video thinking, 'this might be fun' your body already gains a lightheartedness, and makes it easier to laugh
thus why you can go see a comedy and find it funny, and go see a different comedy and see it dumb

I understand what you're saying. The point was not to laugh, so obviously not laughing was the objective. I tried no too, if I wasn't, I'd find it hilarious.
