Best FPS ever.

In your opinion, what is the best First Person Shooter ever made, it can be for any reason you want.

I am locked between Bioshock (Because of it's strong storyline and the way it charms me with it being structured on the philosophy of Ayn Rand ... that or i'm just a sucker for the Big Daddies) or Portal (Pretty much a perfect game and you just gotta love Glados's personality defects.)

thats a good question...i think that there are so many better third person shooters than first person shooters...you have the ghost recon series, rainbows, and some others...as far as the best first person shooters, probably halo

both halo series and CoD over rated and flooded with 10 year olds.

I feel obliged to agree on your views about COD and Halo, can't wait for fallout3 though, bloody loved the previous games and bethesda have already proven their worth with the Elder Scrolls

Halo's overrated as hell, CoD's full of whiney asses, and all the other shooters.....well no one seems to care about them.

I for one would say that the greatest FPS game ever is the classic Doom games. So popular and robust, the games are still having mods made for them to date. And they released over 12 years ago. On top of that you've got all sorts of baddies and different weapons to kill these baddies with. And there is no shortage of said "baddie" ever. On top of all that the music is awesome. At the time it was seen as the best game soundtrack of all time. The midi files for the original Doom's were so popular that Id was petitioned to create Arranged, Rock and Roll, and Metal Remixes of all the songs. Thank you Doom for setting the defining standard on how to be a good FPS. :positive:

God, can't believe i forgot about doom, btw, i think doom 4's story will be fairly interesting, seeing as doom 3 ressurrection of evil was fairly ... final ... everyone thought it'd be the end.

the best FPS ever is Halflife.. that is the BEST FPS i have ever played

its FPS games...not who you play with...the only reason people dont like halo is cause of the people that play...FPS are lame...thrird person is so much better

I for one think its awesome that they're going back to the old fashioned gameplay of Doom with D4. Doom 3 just didn't feel like Doom. It felt more like an attempt at ripping off System Shock.

I don't play CS Mainly because of Hackers. I wish they'd make it compatible with something like Punkbuster already.
